Sociable Plugin Moves to BlogPlay.com

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

sociable-blog-playOf all of the various social bookmarking Wordpress plugins available, my favorite is Sociable, which was developed by Yoast. I like that it’s simple, offers icons in only one style and size, yet allows you to substitute your own directory of images if you’d like, and integrates smoothly into any theme. You can use your own stylesheet to add effects, or the plugin’s built-in styles work well too.

Joost de Valk has done an excellent job of producing an awesome plugin, and now it will find its new home at BlogPlay.com. Joost talks about how this came about on his blog.

If you haven’t already integrated a social bookmarking plugin on your Wordpress blog, what are you waiting for? Go grab Sociable!

DesiredFolio – A Nice Portfolio Wordpress Theme in Three Colors

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

DesiredFolio, created by Themeforest author templateup, is clean and elegant. It’s a very well-balanced theme, offering plenty of padding and spacing where appropriate, nice clean lines of separation throughout, and all three color schemes are cool and low-key. The theme boasts a nice front-page scrolling slideshow to feature a designer’s portfolio and sweet tabbed navigation. Awesome job!

DVQ Themes – Nice! Free! GPL! Awesomely Designed!

dvq-themes

I just ran across an incredible resource this morning – you might have heard of it, but it was new to me – DVQ Themes. The themes are hosted (and I assume created) by Digital Visions Queensland, founded by Matthew Skiles. Let me just point out some things I really like about these themes…

  • They’re clean – very clean.
  • They’re GPL-licensed. Leave the credits in if possible, but if you need to build something new out of them, you can.
  • There’s a nice assortment of styles – a photoblog, a dark theme, a paper-background theme, and all have appropriate consideration given to advertising options when necessary.
  • They’re FREE – which is a very hard-to-beat price!

Head on over!
